This week was absolutely amazing. Everyday In Deming is just a little adventure in the Lords work. Yesterday we had a mission wide reunion (as dad probably saw. President Passey told me when I went up to shake his hand, "I think today is a day we should take a selfie for your dad." I have the coolest mission president! Yesterday we heard from Elder Cordbridge from the quorum of the seventy. It was truly truly amazing. I am so excited to apply the things he taught. One of the things that really stuck out to me was that doctrine taught correctly and clearly so our investigators understand is so important. We can't just rely on the spirit for them to feel it, they have to understand it. Or the won't be truly converted.
Alma 23:6 And as sure as the Lord liveth, so sure as many as believed, or as many as were brought to the knowledge of the truth, through the preaching of Ammon and his brethren, according to the spirit of revelation and of prophecy, and the power of God working miracles in them--yea, I say unto you, as the Lord liveth, as many of the Lamanites as believed in their preaching, and were converted unto the Lord, never did fall away.
When they understand the doctrine, they will want it. What is the most important doctrine? The atonement of Jesus Christ. What we are offering them is a remission of their sins, and the power of God (the Holy Ghost) in their lives. When they understand that that is the end goal for them- they will want it. Elder Cordbridge told us that if our investigators knew what their lives would be like after their baptism, they would crawl on their hands and knees through crushed glass to get there. We have to help them understand the destination, and that is having the atonement in their lives. We have to esteem the Lord in every one of our lessons by teaching the atonement. It was so powerful. He told us that when we truly understand the atonement and our purposes as missionaries everything else will come. We won't have to worry about eye contact, how we are sitting in lessons. We will naturally be SO motivated if we truly understand what we are offering. This was such an answer to prayers. I realized yesterday that I don't understand the atonement as much as I should. But I know the Lord can help me. Ether 12:27, right?
So this week we had a miracle with our friend Luis! Luis has been taught here for about 3 transfers and never came to church or accepted a baptism date. We found out the reason this week is because he doesn't think he can due to his health. We read with him a scripture about how through Christ we can do all things. After we told him that we were going to fast for him to be able to come. And right after he said "I'll go." He came on Sunday!! For the full three hours as well! It was such a miracle! I love fasting! It brings pure miracles in our lives. Our new friend Berema came as well! She is the sweetest, she was waiting for us at her yard sale on Saturday. She was so excited because she read the beginning of the Book of Mormon and loved it! She told us she wanted to come to church! She came like 15 minutes early! It was the sweetest thing. Also.. How is everyone's 40'day fast coming? :)
Love you dearly! Have a great week!
