My beautiful family and friends,
I would love to share with you guys some miracles that have happened down in the beautiful little town of Deming! This week we have seen a lot of success as we have tried to make the atonement the center of every lesson.
The first has to do with our friend here Luis! He is a very old man who has had a a lot of health problems in his life. When I first got here to Deming a couple weeks ago my companion told me that she was surprised that he was still alive! He has been taking the discussions since January and was not progressing until about 2 weeks ago when we found out the reason why he wasn't coming to church, which was he didn't think we was healthy enough. Tuesday night my companion and I went to teach him. It was such a powerful lesson! We focused solely on the atonement and how baptism is the first fruit of repentance. He still was a little hesitant to accept the baptism invitation. We felt Heavenly Father tell us to tell him that the reason why he was still living, and why he has survived all his diseases was for this. This hit him hard and he felt that that was true. He accepted! He is getting baptized on the 18 of July. He came to church yesterday and was just glowing!
Our friend Berema and her boyfriend are progressing as well! This week we found out they were living together so you what that means... Hermana Hubert and Hermana Beatty get to help plan a wedding! Dream come true!
I wanted to share with you another miracle that happened this week. My companion and I were driving in the car and we passed a teenage boy skating on the road. He looked pretty beat up. We felt we needed to talk to him, so we turned around. We accidentally passed him and had to turn around again. Missionaries can be such stalkers. Haha! But we finally caught up to him. We shared with him a Book of Mormon and got his number. He gave us it, but something told me that it wasn't his real number... Haha. I told him I was calling so he could have ours but he told us he was out of minutes, I quickly ended the phone call and told him we would text him. On the way to our appointment I texted him who we were and asked if it was him. During our prayer in the car before our appointment, we prayed that he would text us. He texted us right in the prayer. But it wasn't him. A man answered us and said, "this isn't Marco, this is Gabriel, but thank you for your servicE! God bless you!"...... We called him. Long story short, turns out we called him as he was on his knees praying for help. His aunt was in a coma and they didn't know if she would make it.
Always follow those spiritual impressions even if you are scared and they don't make sense. Hermana Beatty and I have a theme. It's from We Bought a Zoo, "20 seconds of insane courage, and you will never regret it."
Have a miracle filled week!
Love,
Hermana Hubert
