Mi querida familia :)
So we had a lot of funny moments this week, so I've decided I want to
spice this email up a little bit with the funny adventures of Hermana
Beatty and Hermana Hubert.
So first is a conversation we had with a contact on the street. He
kinda looks like he is from Jamaica. We walk up to him and ask him and
he asks why we started to talking to him. We replied that we were
missionaries and had a very special message for him. He replies, "Do
you have any money?" Of course, being the probrecitas we are, we
replied no. He then said, "what are females good for if they don't
have any money." We then, taking a few steps backward, stated we have
something that's worth more than money. And he asked, "You have
crack?" We then said no, "Our message is about Jesus Christ." He then
said, "Jesus Is crack?" The conversation ended shortly after as we
slowly backed further and further away...
The second happened as we found a new less active to work with. She is
absolutely amazing and I can't wait to start teaching her. It was like
love at first sight. We figured out she is an amazing singer, so she
pulled out her karaoke skills and blew us away. Nearly put me to
tears. Well, she was so flattered at our response she decided to give
us food. That's a normal thing here. So before you know it she starts
loading Mexican rice with a bunch of mole on our plate. Now mole is a
Mexican dish here. Chocolate on chicken. Still trying to figure out
how it is so good, nonetheless its amazing. This would have been a
delight if a member hadn't just taken us to Denny's 10 minutes prior.
To add more, let's remember that my companion is a diabetic and when
for the gram slam at Denny's. (Sigh...) I was pretty full myself. As
she delivered our thanksgiving feasts to us, we just looked at each
other like, "Oh shoot. You have diabetes, and I have IBS." In this
moment we were thinking, "Do we run?" Haha jokes. We would never do
that, We both after our exchange of panik began to laugh, smile, and
....... then pray. Haha. And we finished it! Tender mercies from the
Lord...
Well, Raymond is doing amazing. He is starting to figure out how to
receive personal revelation. Please keep him in your prayers! The
other day, we met him at Walmart for a lesson. After he told us he
would buy anything for us just to thank us! It was so sweet. We showed
him all the coffee replacements and of course I showed him Roobois tea
and Pero! He loved it. We felt uncomfortable that he would buy
something for us, but as soon as he found out I loved apples he
decided to buy me a couple! It was really sweet!
So we got calls on Saturday! I am getting a native from El Salvador.
So looks like I will finally be able to talk on dads level of
Spanish... So pumped! :) it'll be hard to say goodbye to Hna Beatty,
but I know I have so many good things ahead with her :)
The mission really is amazing. I feel so blessed to be here in Deming
sharing the light with my lovely brothers and sisters! Hope you all
have a great week :)
Love you all!
