My beautiful family!
Wow this week was just so amazing. I just love Nogales! I never want to leave! I hope I can stay here for the rest of my mission. This area, I call it, is my summer with my great aunt rose :) (elder uchtdorfs talk) Not in the way that I don't want to be here, but I am just learning and loving it so much. Time is flying! But I have been able to learn so much. In the gospel aspect of course, but also fun little things from the people here. Nogales has my heart already. Like today we went over to our ward mission leaders home and his wife taught us all about her healthy eating! She had IBS too and was able to change the way she cooked to be able to live with it. She gave me a bunch of advice and recipes! It was so crazy earlier that week when we were at their house for dinner and For dessert she brought out this plate of what she called "honey drops". I tried one and it tasted exactly like peanut butter plae doe. I asked her how she made it and she said, "Honey, peanut butter, and dry milk?" It WAS! I got so pumped. I gave her the idea to make it a play doe for her kids and she was all over it. Tender mercies :)
We found a golden investigator!!! Her name is Guadalupe and she is just the sweetest thing. We met her my first night in Nogales! We went and visited her for the second time this past week. The first time we left with her a Book of Mormon with chapter 11 to read. When we came back, she told us that she read it and asked us if Nefi was a prophet like the prophets in Jerusalem. We told her yes and she was so excited. She said, "I've always thought that there should be more prophets than just the ones in Jerusalem. And that there should be another testament of Jesus Christ." My companion and I just sat there in shock, it was such a powerful lesson and just know that she is going to be baptized. Keep her in your prayers :) We also are working with five young mothers to work to go to the temple and receive there endowment! Miracles.
This past Friday we had a training with all the mission leaders in Tucson! So Hermana Baum and I spent the night at the mission home. It was my first time there and I just love the passeys so much. President showed me that wonderful selfie of dad with the little white hat in Jerusalem. It was much appreciated. But the meeting was incredible. We were being trained on how to help other missionaries or investigators have the desire. While in the meeting, I was so englightened. I thought back to the very beginning when we lived with our father in heaven. What made us choose to come here? What made us trust him so much to leave our heavenly home and come to a place where we knew it would be hard? I know I did because the love I felt from my Heavenly Father. We trusted him so much, that we knew that His plan would be worth it. We loved him and he loved us. We can apply this to helping others have desire, it is by love. Others will see our light, feel our love, and it turn begin to have a desire to change.
I love you all! :)
