Exchanges!
Well, summer is here :) I have definetly been enjoying my Arizona eighty degree weather. :) As dad would say, the African skin is starting to come back. As well as my missionary tan lines.. This week I wanted to share a funny story that happened this past week. Our appointment fell through, so Hermana Lund felt inspired to try out some former investigators that lived in the area. We started walking towards a house, and I heard a dog start barking. I saw my companion jump a little and then scoot a little closer to me, but I kept on walking towards the house. Then before you know it we see like a two hundred pound dog running straight at us. My companion froze in shear fear, but my inner dog whisperer told me that if I didn't feel afraid, he wouldn't hurt us. My assumption (or the spirit) was correct. Within a couple of seconds, the beast was chilling on my lap. (See pic) for the next twenty minutes my comp and I were in tears with laughter. I am convinced that the spirit wanted us to try that just to be able to experience a little bit of joy.
I am feeling super grateful for this past week! I love my calling. We had exchanges and I wanted to share a thought. This past transfer I had been thinking a lot about a quote that I saw before the mission. It read, "Expect Nothing, Appreciate Everything." And this week I came to a conclusion that that quote is completely incorrect. For a while I tried to apply it to help me be more grateful, but I realized that this week I shouldn't due to our divine nature. We are children of our Father who can become like our own Father in heaven. I sat in the car with an incredible, powerful, dedicated sister missionary in tears who had been hearing a little too much of Satans doubts. Sometimes, I hate how brilliant that guy can be. She had a lot of anxiety for what lay ahead of her. I just felt this overwhelming desire and wish that she could see how truly incredible she was. That she shouldn't feel fear for the future, but hope and rejoice. And that she truly needed to expect so many miracles in her future because of how faithful she was as a missionary. We need to Expect EVERYTHING. Because He literally is our Father and is giving us literally everything. And the greatest part about everything is we can't even comprehend what everything is because our minds are so puny! Expect miracles. That's what faith is. God will give you everything. He wants to. If you ever think He doesn't, think of the greatest thing He is has given us, His son.
Now the time of when we receive everything isn't all at once. But I like it better that way. He gives us our answers and our miracles little by little. Day by day. And as we do that, we develop something that is more precious than any other gift. And that is our relationship with our father in heaven. I know that God will answer every prayer. He will answer your every prayer, even the little ones. Because he loves you. But he isn't just going to give it to you right then. Fast and quick. He will give it to you over the course of life, beautifully, gracefully, and more fully.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a missionary, I wouldn't change it for the world!
Love,
Hermana Hubert
