Goooodbye elder Taylor! (Played rugby with Dan and Keith)
We be climbing some rocks
I pray that I can write sufficiently in this email to get the point
across that I would love to share with you mi querida familia!
I feel like I need to share something I have learned recently in the
mission. Something that I need to continue to strengthen, but am so
glad I am in the perfect place to learn it.
My whole life I have always liked to be doing something, going, going,
going! Maybe that is something that Coach Dee planted in me being a
distance swimmer! Combine that with my love for running and you find a
spirit that loves to go, go, go. Never sit still.
The other day, all the "going" was really taking a tole. I knelt down
to pray to ask Heavenly Father for help. And something that I
absolutely love to do while praying is to stop thinking, talking, and
just pausing. Really giving time for my Heavenly Father to talk back
to me. Well, in my prayer I saw a picture in my head. And I was put
into the perspective of someone driving through the canyon on the way
to Island Park at 100 mph. I realized something. If we are driving 100
miles per hour on a road through the mountains we would would get
there faster, but we would miss seeing the beauty of a lot of trees.
And trees are some of Gods greatest creations. And I was brought back
to a conversation that I had with Aunt Des. She told me of a
conversation that she had with Oupa Keith before he passed away. She
told me of how when she was young she liked to go go go go. One time
when she was going, going, going, he asked her if she could just stop
for a little and sit with him. He asked her to just stop sometimes and
just enjoy. Sometimes we focus so much on the destination and getting
there as fast as we can instead of finding joy in the journey. Gods
assurances will always be with us on our way through the mountains. I
hope we can always go at a pace where we can see the hand of God at
the fullest. And I hope we can go at a pace to let God do his part.
Sometimes in the mission, I try to be God, I try to run to house to
house to person to person. Try to do it all, Something that I have
been trying to learn is relying on God and expecting Him to do his
part. I love the story of Mary and Martha in the
end of Luke 10. Oh heavens how I am such a Martha! I have really tried
to become less like Martha and more like Mary..... "Martha Martha thou
art careful and trouble about many things. But one thing is needful
and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away
from her."
I hope you find beauty in the trees my beautiful family!
Love,
Hermana Hubert
