Buenas tardes familia!
Okay this week was a wonderful one that is for sure! I say this every email, but I truly love my companion. I feel like I am just with one of my best friends all the time. Singing, laughing, occasionally crying. haha. I feel like I havent laughed this hard in a long time and she is teaching me things I never thought I would learn on the mission. Such as; 1. Gringo spanish accent 2. New Jersey Accent. Everytime something bad happens we always just look at each other, throw our fist in the air and say in a new jersey accent either "Why I otta!" or "Get outa here!" Then we always end of laughing so hard we forget what happened.
Guess where we went this past Saturday? The Mesa Temple! We took our recent convert with the name of her spouse to do baptisms for the dead. The spirit was so strong! She immediately felt it. I asked her how she felt and she looked at me with big eyes and said "Mucho Paz!" It was cool to see the perspective of a recent convert. We asked a man there to do the baptism of her spouse. At the end of the baptismal prayer, she said "Amen" very strongly. Which was a surprise because she is really shy. When she said it I got goosebumps all over my arms, and I knew that this was the work of the Lord.
Also, while I was in the temple, I saw Great Uncle Lynn! Which was really cool because that's where Grandma and Grandpa were married! I knew grandma worked that one out.
Okay I just have to say.. I love speaking spanish! I felt like this week I had a break through and really felt the gift of tongues. We are so blessed as missionaries. I felt such an increase of love for these people this week and am so grateful that I have the chance to serve them. Mom told me this past week in my email how I am a third done with my mission. I have to say that when I read that my heart dropped. It goes by so fast and we really have to treasure every moment.
This past week we found a new friend, Nery. She is from Panama and is an "escogida!" She has been so prepared to receive this message. She came to church yesterday and told us after how she felt like she was coming home. Her words were a miracle to Hermana Hurst and I because in the beginning of the transfer we set a goal that we would find an investigador who felt like "she was coming home" when she went to church. Set specific goals with Heavenly Father! Do your part and He will do His. I just love the mission.
I want to finish this email with my testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ. I know He lives and loves us so much. I am so grateful for the hard times on the mission because that is where I can feel him the most. I know He lives and loves us so much. He is always waiting with the power of the atonement ready to work in our lives. To strengthen us and to heal us. We just have to act in faith by doing to simple things we have learned. Such as reading the scriptures, praying, the sacrament, and service. Once we do these things we enable the power of the atonement to work in our lives. We will be alive in Christ. We will be healed and we will be strengthened.
I hope you have an amazing week.
Con mucho amor,
