Buenos familia! First things first.... Dad how dare you not write me. Second... Dad why is it you that is always endangered? Mom told me about the trailer... Pretty sure you need angels of protection more than I do! haha, but seriously. Please stay safe!
Alright family I hit the two month mark and you guys have already forgotten to write me? Weak sauce... My heart goes out to mom! Love you mom, thanks for remembering your daughter in Peru. *Insert guilt trip to Dad, Luke, Anna, Dan, Keith here*
This week was pretty good! Me and my companion became a whole lot closer. She really is amazing and I am so lucky to have her here with me!
The language is coming, slowly but surely. I have quickly come to realize it doesnt matter how intelligent you are, what you want to say, what experiences you have, if you dont know the language.. you are a baby. The mission truly is so humbling. You have to rely on the spirit 100% and have faith that just by opening your mouth the Lord will help you. Youre not going to speak perfect spanish, but the Lord will help you. I just cant wait for when I can understand what these people are saying.
I want to tell you guys about a little investigator we have! Her name is Ruth Roque, she is 9 years old and couldnt be any cuter. She wants to get baptized and her father wants her to as well. But her grandma wants her to wait til she is 12. Her grandma is inactive. We just need to work with her grandma and help her remember her testimony to soften her heart. We have her baptism fecha for this Saturday. We are going to need a miracle, so please pray for the softening heart of her grandma.
Can you guys send me a picture of Cocoa? I really miss that gup. There are so many dogs here, but they arent dogs they are muts. Seriously, like yesterday I through a rock at one. Yes, Rachel Hubert through a rock at a dog. There are hundreds and they all are FEO. If all dogs were like Cocoa, Arequipa would be so much better. :) There are some loco men here. At first the whistling, and yelling stupid things in english to me was funny, but now it just trys my patience, especially during the hard times when appointments fall through.
I always remember Danny Boys words. You cant let your circumstances determine your happiness. You have to hold true to the tesimony, you have to cleave only to your God. Then its a whole lot easier to keep on smiling and have faith in your investigators. We have to have faith that our investigators will change, because if we dont thats saying you dont have faith in the atonement. The atonement can change any heart, its infinite. Your investigator only needs to taste it. But my question right now is how can I help my investigators taste the fruit of the atonement... Advice? :)
I love you guys so much! Stay safe! I cant wait to hear where Marny is going!! You guys are always in my prayers!
Hermana Hubert
