Familia!!!! "Wow I cant beleive its already Pday!"... Yeah gotta say that like every other missionary on this planet! But its true! Every day is the longest day of your life, but it's insane how fast the weeks go by!
Im about to say something that I dont think you guys would ever even imagine me saying.. I LOVE FASTING. There is a power in the fast that's all I gotta say! We do a 24 hour fast here and I honestly didnt want to stop. But it was so powerful. I have felt so much better, so THANK YOU for the fasts familia. I love you guys so much.
(Insert Raches sarcastic tone here) Guys I'm basically a fluent spanish speaker. I dont know why they don't have me translating all the devotionals. Chiste! Can you tell my humor is going downhill slowly but surely? Almost as surely as Anna facelplanting on the air port escalator. Speaking of my FAVORITE sister. I sent a letter yesterday to Mrs. Mocke! I finally found the time! They keep us so busy here! But mail day is monday and I have a goal for a letter to Mamma and Papa on Monday! But honestly the gift of tongues is SO real. I can understand everything our teacher and "investigators" say even when they are talking really fast! Me and my comp both on Sunday listened to the devotionals without translators! I know Im still gonna get a big wake up call when i leave to AREQUIPA in 21 days but Im still pumped and grateful for the help of the Lord.
BTW.... So two weeks ago my companion and I were asked to be the Sister Training Leaders.. insert cricket noise here.. the names are so classic. AP, District Leader, Zone Leader.... Sister Training Leader... *but thanks. Just kidding just kidding. Its fun we basically just help out all the new norte americanos! Garret Lewis from LP is here too which is always fun to see a familiar face! There really are a ton of people here from Utah. Its really fun. But the most fun part (best grammar ever i know) is my AREQUIPA girls! There are 5 girls in my district heading down to Arequipa with me and we have gotten SO close. We all have the similar spirits its great!
I have to explain one Hermana... HERMANA SMITH. If we knew each other before we would have been killer friends. She used to run 6 miles every morning. Her favorite food is watermelon. Or bananas. And her favorite snack.. wait for it wait for it... CARROTS AND SALSA. I thought I was the only one! I cant wait if we get to be companions!
But more on the spiritual side... this week really hit me how important this work is. So fetching hard, but so important. Elder Holland is UNREAL. You dont even know him until youve seen him talk to missionaries. This week was hard not gonna lie. And I know its crazy to say but I wanted to go home at one point. Nothing was working, I wasnt feeling the spirit, I felt SO useless and no love. But later we watched a video by Elder Holland about how what we experience now is honestely ONE TEAR. ONE. of what the Savior did and experienced in the atonement. We are going to face rejection, pain, etc. But we are standing shoulder to shoulder with the Savior and for that reason we should STAND TALL. It was never easy for him, why should it be easy for me?
Im learning so much the power of prayer. My prayers have definetly changed dramatically. All we have to do is ASK. I was really struggling with my comp. But my prayers are being answered everyday and Im learning a lot about myself that I need to change. And we can because of the Savior. Like daddio said, Repentance means CHANGE. Like right now... Its all about meekness! Something im trying to develop!
Happy belated birthday Ouma and Marny! Sorry its so late! But know I was thinking about you! On Jan 23 in my journal I wrote at the top, "happy birthday marny :)" so know you were in my thoughts and prayers and hope the mission prep is going well! Make my parents take you out for some sushi :)
LUKE. Read 2 Nephi 11:3. I was reading and couldnt help myself but laugh and think of you.
Lastly this goes out to everyone! I would LOVE to hear about a scripture that has helped you this week or in your lifetime or whatever. Dad has sent me some and whenever I read them after during the week it feels like he is right there teaching me. Which is something that I really took advantage of before the mission. Ive got the best parents.
I havent got your packages yet mamma! They take about 3 weeks to get here and no letters yet either. So... cough cough... WRITE ME. Im desperate :)
Well I love you guys tooooonnnnsss! Lovin the CCM, its like disney land everyday! ;)
Loved hearing from you guys!
