AREQUIPA!!! Familia and amigos!! Como estan? :)
Okay first want to know what Arequipa is like? Just imagine Hawaii and then take a little bit of Rome, the Utah mountains, three beautiful volcanoes, the cutest old people, the cutest kids, California weather, and there you have it! I cant even tell you how beautiful it is!... Well maybe not my area right now, but other areas are SO beautiful.
Okay, everyone always said the the CCM is like the Celestial Kingdom and the mission is the Terrestial kingdome. NOT TRUE. haha, I cant even tell you. AREQUIPA is the celestial and the CCM is flipping outer darkness. Just kidding, but seriously. I cant even express how much opposition there was in the CCM. But as soon as I saw my mission presidents and really saw Arequipa most of it went away. It still is hard, of course, but it is Heaven.
My companion is Hermana Rivera. LOVE HER. She is so sweet, kind, and so patient. Im sending pictures soon!
And guess who hasnt had diaherria since the CCM? This girl! Been solid. Its been great. :)
The food here is a beast, SO MUCH RICE. haha, but Ive got it all worked out with my pinchanista. Yeah dont know if that is how you spell it. But she reminds me SO MUCH of Ouma. Its crazy. She is a BEAST at cooking and is giving me all kinds of vegetables that I never even knew existed. The fruit here to... Is a beast. No words. And the meat... THE MEAT! It is so fresh. Like Im pretty sure only ten minutes previous the cow was living. My pinchanista has a little farm of.... GUINEA PIGS on her roof. 20 guinea pigs! She says when I leave she is going to cook one for me.... yay.... And every morning we have this drink called "Kimbo". Which is just like Pero. But better, mom you would love it. Go find it and drink it every morning with me :) After reading this you guys are `probably thinking that Im going to get fat. But no worries, my pinchanista gives me the perfect portion sizes. She jokes that after I am transferred that she is going to be so skinny because of all the vegetables! haha I love her.
My area is called Zamacola! And its rough, i could imagine its kind of like Nates first area. There is so much to do, Ive never been so stressed in my life. haha. Me and my companion feel that the Lord has faith in us, and this area is going to have a lot of changes. Mainly member missionary work. IT IS SO IMPORTANT. I cant even describe. We have a crazy goal this month, but we know its not our goal its the Lords. Please pray for my faith, and Hermana Riveras faith. And please pray for our barrio Zamacola that they will participate in the Obra de Salvacion.
The language is coming! Slowly but surely. By the end of the day my head is just pounding. So many words. So many things. haha, also if you could pray that I will have strength to accomplish our goal. My body has been slacking with the energy lately.
INSANITY! Yes I am still doing it. haha you should see where I do it... so ghetto. you should also see my bathroom... I would like to see Moms face if she saw it. Things to never take advantage of:
1. Warm or Hot Showers
2. Toilet seats... rough
3. Sheets..... More rough
4. Carrots and Salsa
5. Dads shakes. But the other day my pinchanista had a fruit and oatmeal drink for me... TENDER MERCIES ALL AROUND.
Please pray for Narcy and her sister, she is 17 years old and wants to get baptized. Also please pray for her mom. She is inactive. And for her father. He is a hard core catholic.
Sorry so many things to pray for, but please pray for our GOAL. You all have such great faith, and with your help we can accomplish it.
My homesickness pretty much went away after I came to Arequipa. I only had one really weak moment. Me and my compie were teaching a cute little family who is now RESCUED :) Her little girl came up to me and showed me a movie that she had been watching... guess what movie.... Flipping Frozen. My heart squeezed and twisted but at the same time the thought came "I cant beleive its already out on DVD!" haha miss you Anna! love you! Go watch it with Marny for me.
Sorry this has been so long. We get 2 hours, its heaven.
But know that Im safe and loving Arequipa! Thank you for your prayers, your support, and your emails, your scriptures, Dont stop sending them!
I love you all so much! Cant wait to give you updates for next week. This week is going to be BIG!
Con Amor,
Hermana HOOOOObert.
P.S Wish you guys could see my ankles right now.. So rough. For some reason the mosquitos hear like ankles. :)
P.S.S Give grandpa a big escimo kiss for me! How is he doing??
